SUMMARY:Architecture Matters: Far+Dang
DESCRIPTION:FREE for AIA Dallas & Allied Members\, $30 General Admission. Presented by McLaughlin Insurance.  \nArchitecture Matters is an engaging and informative design lecture series that is free for all AIA Dallas and Northeast Texas members. Join us for a thought-provoking lecture by Far+Dang. \nThe founding partners of FAR+DANG\, Rizi Faruqui and Bang Dang\, will present four projects that reflect the practice’s core principles over the last fifteen years\, specifically within the context of transforming ideas into architectural representations and then into buildings. The projects narrate how architecture is conceived through both an understanding of the general circumstances and a rigorous exploration of the specific parameters of the physical site\, the context\, and the client’s program. How these core principles are reimagined and refined from the design process through construction will be examined as case studies that show how intangible ideas are transformed into the tangible. Issues of craft\, budget\, program\, space\, materiality\, and tectonics will be explored through the lens of a small practice. \nABOUT FAR+DANG \nFar+Dang is a multidisciplinary design office engaged in the complexities and multiplicities of contemporary life. Their research\, strategy\, and work focuses on transforming intangible ideas into spatial realities and physical form. Interested in taking a project from its initial conception to its final built form\, their goal is to heighten the immaterial such as ideas\, hopes\, and space\, by way of the material such as site\, structure\, and enclosure regardless of context\, scale\, and budget.  Far+Dang was formed in January of 2011 and together\, Bang Dang and Rizwan Faruqui bring over 30 years of experience in the design field working previously with a variety of firms and a variety of project types. \nThis program is under review for continuing education credits by AIA CES.
