SUMMARY:Architecture Research Office (ARO) and Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects (NBW) on Interdisciplinary Collaboration
DESCRIPTION:Part of the Architecture Matters Series\, Presented by McLaughlin Insurance\nTuesday\, September 30\, 5:30 – 7:00 PM\nAD EX\, 325 N. St. Paul Street\, Suite 150\nFREE for AIA Members\, FREE for Students\, $10 General Admission\nIn-Person Event\, 1.0 LU | HSW \nOur current cultural moment calls on design professionals to embrace a model of collaboration that leads to stronger\, more impactful projects – projects that center the needs and missions of both clients and the communities they serve. As the urgency of climate change and social inequality intensifies\, architects and landscape architects are increasingly leading efforts with lasting consequences. With this responsibility comes the imperative to move beyond form-making and spectacle in favor of a team-oriented approach that connects architecture to its natural and cultural contexts in a holistic way. From this kind of deep collaboration\, true resilience and sustainability can emerge. \nArchitecture Research Office (ARO) and Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects (NBW) have partnered on projects such as the Rothko Chapel\, Rice University\, and the Olana State Historic Site\, among others\, and have developed a collaborative model that prioritizes public experience\, centers cultural narratives\, responds to environmental conditions\, and supports the missions of cultural nonprofits. In these examples\, ARO led the planning for the Rothko Chapel\, and NBW for Olana. Each firm then played a key role in hiring and guiding the other as the projects progressed. This reciprocal\, open-handed approach to leadership exemplifies true collaboration between architecture and landscape architecture in service of mission-driven design.

SUMMARY:AIA | TEXO Tech Club
DESCRIPTION:Bluebeam Tech Club Session – October 22\, 2025 | 3:30 PM\n  \n\n\n\nJoin us for the inaugural Tech Club forum\, a bi-weekly gathering dedicated to professionals in the AEC (Architecture\, Engineering & Construction) industry. Hosted by AIA Dallas- TEXO\, this forum invites everyone to engage in open conversations about the evolving role of technology in our field. \nMany architectural\, engineering\, and construction firms have already invested in Bluebeam\, yet the software’s full potential often goes untapped. In reality\, we are only scratching the surface of what it can do. \nThrough our Tech Club sessions\, we’ve identified a key industry need: simple\, effective collaboration between disciplines. This session will explore how Bluebeam can bridge that gap—providing practical\, impactful solutions to improve workflows and communication across the AEC industry. \nJames Chambers and his colleagues will host this session at the Bluebeam office in Dallas\, guiding us through strategies\, features\, and best practices that unlock the software’s true capabilities. \n

SUMMARY:AIA Dallas Tour of Homes Premiere Party - SOLD OUT!
DESCRIPTION:Kick-off the annual AIA Dallas Tour of Homes at our annual Premiere Party!\nThe Premiere Party location is at a home exclusive to the Party and not on the weekend Tour of Homes. Enjoy passed hors d’oeuvres\, open bar\, live music\, meet-and-greets with the tour architects\, and more. This event is organzied by ModernLuxury Interiors Texas\, and sponsored by Western Window Systems. \nYou must purchase a VIP Pass to attend the Tour of Homes Premiere Party. VIP Passes include admission to the Tour of Homes weekend on October 25 & 26\, 2025. \nPremiere Party\nThursday\, October 23\, 2025\n6:30 to 9:00 p.m. \nWinsted Drive Residence // Bentley Tibbs Architect\nThe client envisioned a ranch-style home within the city—one that captured the spirit of a Texas ranch compound while responding to its in-town context. The resulting residence reads as a collection of buildings\, unified by a simple\, regionally grounded material palette of Texas stone\, metal\, and wood. Designed to integrate with the natural landscape\, the home rambles through mature trees and follows the site’s natural topography. A central aspect of the design is the client’s deep devotion to their dogs\, and a portion of the home is dedicated for training\, grooming\, and kenneling. Large interior spaces flow into an expansive backyard. By merging the layered structure of a ranch with the amenities of urban living\, the home achieves a unique balance of regional identity\, personal expression\, and thoughtful design. \nArchitect: Bentley Tibbs\, AIA\nGeneral Contractor: Herman Darden\nLandscape Architect: Paper Kites Studio\nInterior Design: Nancy Leib\nStructural Engineer: The Reedy Group \nCompleted: 2024\nSquare Footage: 7\,660 sq ft \nPhotography: Robert Tsai Photography & Charles Davis Smith\, FAIA
