DESCRIPTION:Fair Park\, a celebration of art\, architecture\, and industry\, is a cultural and historic gem in the heart of Dallas. Join us for a motorized tour of the park while we fill you in on its amazing past and talk about its exciting future. \nArchitecturally\, Fair Park is one of the world’s largest collections of Art Deco buildings with a unique design approach that Chief Architect George Dahl described as “Texanic.” Integral to the buildings and the grounds are numerous works by renowned artists that celebrate the history and achievements of Texas during the first 100 years of independence. First established for the Dallas State Fair in 1886\, Fair Park was transformed in 1936 for the Texas Centennial Exposition. It is one of Dallas’ greatest cultural assets\, hosting events year-round and exhibitions and serving as home to numerous cultural institutions. In 1986\, it was recognized as a National Historic Landmark. \nIn partnership with Fair Park First\, the Dallas Architecture and Design Exchange presents hour-long lunchtime tram tours on the third Wednesday of the month at several times throughout the year. Tickets are $10 for general admission\, and $5 for students and seniors. \nThe tour begins at noon at the Parry Street entrance gate adjacent to the DART stop. Seats are limited – reserve your seat in advance. \nNOTE: The duration of the tour ranges from 1.5 to 2 hours. There is some walking (1/4 of a mile or less) to allow participants to get up close to some of the artwork. Please note any mobility challenges at the time of registration so that the tour route can be adjusted to accommodate all guests.

DESCRIPTION:Part of the Kaleidescope: The Prism of Queer Architecture Series\nPresented by Gensler\, Organized by AIA Dallas LGBTQIA+ Alliance\nFREE\, Virtual Event\n1.0 LU \nIntegrating Queer Perspective into the Design Studio will bring queer educators together with students and architects\, highlighting their in-studio work with students as well as their research towards creating a more inclusive and equitable environment in architecture. \nPanelists include Aidan Flynn\, a founding member of the global Queer Educators in Architecture Network (QuEAN); Leah Wulfman\, a Carrier Bag architect\, educator\, game designer\, digital puppeteer\, and occasional writer; and Jon Gould\, a limited-term professor of architecture at Kennesaw State University advocating for equity\, diversity\, and inclusion in our built environments. The panel will be moderated by A.L. DESCRIPTION:The ARE Success Teams Program is an accelerated study program designed to support ARE candidates through a structured and focused approach. During the program\, we will provide the materials\, mentorship\, and camaraderie needed to pass the Architect Registration Examination (ARE). The program is comprised of recurring study sessions where all participants gather and go over study materials\, study tips\, exam experiences\, and occasionally compete in friendly ARE Trivia games or attend ARE lectures. \nAssociates with an active NCARB Record\, who are eligible to test\, are welcome. Participants are required to show proof of ARE Eligibility from NCARB. AIA members will enjoy a discounted rate to enroll in the program. \nIn the application\, participants will sign an agreement committing to taking the exams in the same order and on the same schedule as the other group members throughout the course of their track. DESCRIPTION:HELP INSPIRE THE ARCHITECTS AND DESIGNERS OF TOMORROW\nOrganized by the Latinos in Architecture Network \nBring your book donations to the AD EX or pick up an empty box to fill up at your firm. Donations will be distributed to local high school students to inspire the architects and designers of tomorrow! \nDonations can include books about architecture\, interior design\, engineering\, art\, and construction. New or gently used supplies such as scales\, T-squares\, and tracing paper are welcome! Magazines will NOT be accepted. \nFeel free to write a personal\, motivational message on the inside front cover of a donated book to encourage students to explore our profession as a career path! Students will not only gain inspiration but also a personalized connection to Dallas professional. \nBooks may be dropped off at the AD EX during open hours or by appointment from June 10th through August 12th. In addition\, many local firms will also serve as collection points. \nContact us if your firm would like to be one of the collection points! \n  \nAD EX HOURS \nAD EX is open to the public from 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Ms. Liu is a fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners and most recently served as the Director of Metro Planning and Design Services in Louisville\, Kentucky. Liu comes to Dallas at a pivotal time as the city is poised to consider Forward Dallas\, the next comprehensive land use plan; infrastructure investments like I-345\, streetcar expansion\, and the Convention Center; and a re-write of Dallas’ Development Code.
