SUMMARY:Women in Architecture: Building Tour + Happy Hour
DESCRIPTION:Organized by Women in Architecture Network\, Hosted by GFF Design\n23Springs\, 2323 Cedar Springs Rd\, Dallas\, TX 75201\nWednesday\, March 4\, 5:30 – 7:00 PM\nFREE Event – SOLD OUT! \nThe Women in Architecture Network invites you for a tour of the 23 Springs office tower in Uptown\, followed by a happy hour at the recently completed Little Ruby’s. \nAbout 23Springs\nA landmark office tower in Uptown Dallas\, 23Springs reclaims valuable real estate for public life—elevating workplace design while anchoring a new pedestrian-friendly urban district.\n23Springs is situated in the heart of Uptown\, a rapidly evolving urban district. Granite Properties tasked GFF with creating a distinctive office environment characterized by its architecture\, public spaces\, and pedestrian connections to the surrounding area. The response was to design a tall\, elegant tower to minimize the building footprint and dedicate the remaining site to publicly accessible open space\, vibrant uses\, and a walkable streetscape. Parking is placed below grade to prioritize pedestrian access and maximize the activation of outdoor spaces. (source: GFF Design) \nAbout GFF Design\nGFF has been a staple of the Dallas design community for over four decades. Our journey began in the historic West End neighborhood of Downtown\, and over the years\, we’ve carved a memorable path through the city’s skyline. (Source: GFF Design) \nAbout Little Ruby’s\nSince 2002\, Little Ruby’s has brought Australian cafe culture to New York City\, offering casual\, locally sourced cuisine\, specialty drinks\, and a full coffee program. Open for brekkie\, lunch\, and dinner 7 days a week\, Ruby’s iconic menu features our signature bronte burger\, taste-driven pasta\, bowls and salads\, and brunch classics like ricotta hotcakes. SUMMARY:Fair Park Tram Tour
DESCRIPTION:Fair Park\, a celebration of art\, architecture\, and industry\, is a cultural and historic gem in the heart of Dallas. Join us for a motorized tour of the park while we fill you in on its amazing past and talk about its exciting future. \nArchitecturally\, Fair Park is one of the world’s largest collections of Art Deco buildings with a unique design approach that Chief Architect George Dahl described as “Texanic.” Integral to the buildings and the grounds are numerous works by renowned artists that celebrate the history and achievements of Texas during the first 100 years of independence. First established for the Dallas State Fair in 1886\, Fair Park was transformed in 1936 for the Texas Centennial Exposition. It is one of Dallas’ greatest cultural assets\, hosting events year-round and exhibitions and serving as home to numerous cultural institutions. In 1986\, it was recognized as a National Historic Landmark. \nIn partnership with Fair Park First\, the Dallas Architecture and Design Exchange presents hour-long lunchtime tram tours on the third Wednesday of the month at several times throughout the year. Tickets are $10 for general admission\, and $5 for students and seniors. \nThe tour begins at noon at the Parry Street entrance gate adjacent to the DART stop. Seats are limited – reserve your seat in advance. \nNOTE: The duration of the tour ranges from 1.5 to 2 hours. There is some walking (1/4 of a mile or less) to allow participants to get up close to some of the artwork. Please note any mobility challenges at the time of registration so that the tour route can be adjusted to accommodate all guests.
