NCTCOG encourages jurisdictions in North Central Texas to adopt the following model construction codes along with their respective regional amendments as expeditiously as their local code adoption process will allow. \nThis program will review the 2024 Final Recommended Regional Amendments for the building code approved for distribution by Executive Board at their March 27\, 2025 meeting. \nLunch will be provided for registered participants\, as well as complimentary parking through Republic Center Valet. With a goal of regional code uniformity\, the Executive Board is encouraging jurisdictions in the 16 county area of NCTCOG to adopt the 2024 International Codes and Regional Amendments. This event will review the major recommended amendments to the 2024 International Building Code. \n\n\nLearning Objectives\n\n\nUnderstand the intent in the adoption of and amendments to the 2024 IBC by NCTCOG.\nDifferentiate between the Option A and Option B aspect of the amendments as it relates to the definition of high-rise buildings and how more restrictive provisions have been added to high rise buildings.\nReview the complete rewrite of IBC Section 915\, Carbon Monoxide to be more in line with the proposed 2027 IBC draft text.\nReview and understand the amendments by NCTCOG to Ch. 30\, elevators\, which clarifies IBC text and includes more restrictive provisions than those published by IBC.\n\n1.0 LU | HSW

St. Paul Street\, Suite 150\nFREE for AIA Members\, FREE for Students\, $10 General Admission\nIn-Person Event\, 1.0 LU | HSW \nOur current cultural moment calls on design professionals to embrace a model of collaboration that leads to stronger\, more impactful projects – projects that center the needs and missions of both clients and the communities they serve. As the urgency of climate change and social inequality intensifies\, architects and landscape architects are increasingly leading efforts with lasting consequences. With this responsibility comes the imperative to move beyond form-making and spectacle in favor of a team-oriented approach that connects architecture to its natural and cultural contexts in a holistic way. From this kind of deep collaboration\, true resilience and sustainability can emerge. \nArchitecture Research Office (ARO) and Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects (NBW) have partnered on projects such as the Rothko Chapel\, Rice University\, and the Olana State Historic Site\, among others\, and have developed a collaborative model that prioritizes public experience\, centers cultural narratives\, responds to environmental conditions\, and supports the missions of cultural nonprofits. In these examples\, ARO led the planning for the Rothko Chapel\, and NBW for Olana. Each firm then played a key role in hiring and guiding the other as the projects progressed. This reciprocal\, open-handed approach to leadership exemplifies true collaboration between architecture and landscape architecture in service of mission-driven design.

DESCRIPTION:Tin District Artists’ Studio Tours\, Organized by LGBTQIA+ Alliance\nSaturday\, October 4\, 1:00 – 3:30 PM\nTin District\, 707 Fabrication St Dallas\, TX 75212\nFREE\, In Person Event \nHappy Hour: 3:30 – 5:00 PM at Modern Brick Haus\, 2506 Sylvan Ave\, Dallas\, TX 75212 \nThis event will be a walking tour showcasing some of the many professional artists who have studios in the Tin District. The tour will include walking to various buildings where artists have studios\, meeting with the artists\, seeing their latest work\, and learning about their process. Our tour will end with a Happy Hour at Modern Brick Haus\, a local brick studio focusing on brick builds suitable for your wall or living room. At Modern Brick Haus participants will be able to mingle\, chat\, and get hands on with some of their brick designs. \nAccessibility Note: This event involves a walking tour through the Tin District\, which may include uneven terrain\, steps\, and extended periods of standing or walking between studio locations. We recommend participants wear comfortable clothing and footwear and bring water to stay hydrated. Windows and doors provide essential protection and architectural character to a building\, and must also respond to owner-driven requirements like aesthetics\, cost\, performance\, maintenance\, and life cycle. Fiberglass composite is suitable for windows and doors in any climate or building type. More durable than aluminum or vinyl\, with the thermal efficiency of wood\, fiberglass composite windows are an economically competitive alternative to aluminum and vinyl windows.
