DESCRIPTION:Fair Park\, a celebration of art\, architecture\, and industry\, is a cultural and historic gem in the heart of Dallas. Join us for a motorized tour of the park while we fill you in on its amazing past and talk about its exciting future. \nArchitecturally\, Fair Park is one of the world’s largest collections of Art Deco buildings with a unique design approach that Chief Architect George Dahl described as “Texanic.” Integral to the buildings and the grounds are numerous works by renowned artists that celebrate the history and achievements of Texas during the first 100 years of independence. First established for the Dallas State Fair in 1886\, Fair Park was transformed in 1936 for the Texas Centennial Exposition. It is one of Dallas’ greatest cultural assets\, hosting events year-round and exhibitions and serving as home to numerous cultural institutions. In 1986\, it was recognized as a National Historic Landmark. \nIn partnership with Fair Park First\, the Dallas Architecture and Design Exchange presents hour-long lunchtime tram tours on the third Wednesday of the month at several times throughout the year. Tickets are $10 for general admission\, and $5 for students and seniors. \nThe tour begins at noon at the Parry Street entrance gate adjacent to the DART stop. Seats are limited – reserve your seat in advance. \nNOTE: The duration of the tour ranges from 1.5 to 2 hours. There is some walking (1/4 of a mile or less) to allow participants to get up close to some of the artwork. Please note any mobility challenges at the time of registration so that the tour route can be adjusted to accommodate all guests.

SUMMARY:Tupp's Brewery Tour
DESCRIPTION:Located at an existing granary just outside of downtown McKinney\, the 3.5 acre site is home to TUPPS Brewery’s new 24\,230 sf brewing facility\, with a 10\,620 sf taproom\, 8\,500 sf barrel aging site\, multiple beer gardens\, sculptures\, concert lawn\, event spaces\, and kids and adult play areas. \nThis is a joint project with the City of McKinney\, McKinney Community Development Corporation\, and TUPPS Brewery to provide the neighboring community with park and event space while providing a new home for TUPPS Brewery to continue to expand and stay in McKinney. \nIn keeping with the TUPPS brand of authenticity and “roachy style”\, the new campus celebrates its origins as an industrial granary and reuses much of the existing equipment and materials as decorative elements throughout the site and facilities.

SUMMARY:Vapor Intrusion: Below-Slab Protection Methodologies
DESCRIPTION:For brownfields and contaminated sites\, the focus has historically been to protect human health by preventing exposure to direct contact of contaminated soil or drinking contaminated water.  We now know that inhaling chemical vapors poses a potential risk to the health of residents\, workers\, and other occupants who are inside of the buildings.  Vapor intrusion is an evolving science\, and it presents challenges to redeveloping these sites.  This seminar provides an in-depth look at below-slab vapor intrusion protection and how it can be a sustainable tool to control transmission of chemicals into the built environment. \nLEARNING OBJECTIVES: After attending the session\, participants will gain a better understanding of the different means and methods available for protection of vapor intrusion below the building\, including\, but not limited to\, the differences between a chemical vapor barrier and a water vapor barrier.  Participants will learn the science behind vapor migration below and through concrete slabs.
