Project Architect

Position Overview

We are seeking a full-time, on-site Project Architect located in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The Project Architect will be responsible for design, planning, development, and execution of design documentation, including reviewing city codes, consultant coordination, and organizing and coordinating project team assignments. The Project Architect will exercise guided judgment in evaluation, selection, and use of standard techniques, solve problems when encountered, and receive guidance on complex projects.

Responsibilities

DESIGN

  • Applies intermediate elements and principles of design.
  • Demonstrates intermediate understanding of design practice methods.
  • Ability to create preliminary design studies and options.
  • Works with designers to coordinate SD, DD, and CDs.
  • Works with Director of Design to execute design goals through DD and CD implementation.
  • May research intermediate building systems in support of overall design.

TECHNICAL

  • Prepares CDs, plans and details; creates red-line revisions.
  • Implements code, accessibility and zoning analysis.
  • Prepares mock-ups of drawing packages.
  • Coordinates specifications and manages project deliverables.
  • Creates and develops CDs in all capacities with minimal supervision.
  • Integrates engineering systems into the overall project documents.
  • Self-directed with all aspects of Construction Administration.

MANAGEMENT

  • Self-organizes and plans accordingly to execute tasks.
  • Self performs within the constraints of project budgets and schedules.
  • Creates agendas and coordinates minutes with Project Manager.
  • Presents progress and updates to client and design team.
  • Coordinates contractors, consultants and vendor assignments.
  • Takes accountability and ownership for job functions.
  • Cartoons drawing set.
  • Mentors junior staff.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Revit, graphic design, and 3D visualization software.
  • Experience in all phases of design process.
  • Familiar with building codes, specifications, and building systems.
  • Understanding of project management process.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage work efforts of junior staff.
  • Collaborative and professional work ethic.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or related field.
  • 6-12 years of architecture experience.
  • K-12 experience preferred.

Licensed Architect preferred, but not required.
