2015 Tour of Homes - Call for Entries
2014's Tour of Homes brought a diverse collection of the Dallas residential architecture scene; it also brought about the largest attendance to date. As with all great things, there is a beginning: residential project applications submitted to the Tour of Homes committee. Today we are releasing the application for the 2015 Tour of Homes.
To echo the Tour of Homes co-chair Jennifer Workman’s wrap-up article, the 2014 Tour was a success greatly due to the projects submitted by you, AIA Dallas member architects. With the help of media outlets such as The Dallas Morning News, CultureMap, and D Home, we were able to showcase the works of Dallas architects to an ever-growing number of the area’s public. Each year the committee is able to build upon the successes of the previous year's tour, and the increasing attendance number can attest to that. Last year in particular we feel we were successful in showcasing the diversity in the residential sector of the architectural profession. We strived to include not only a diverse selection of “styles,” but also scope of work. We included everything from ground-up, renovations, and add-ons. Each house stood as an example of the possibilities when someone hires an architect.
Just the same as last year, the Tour of Homes committee is comprised of active participants in the architectural profession. And, just the same as last year, we recognize that there is a fear that we are missing that hidden gem in Dallas residential architecture, that new studio that just formed in Dallas, that old studio that just recently tried their hand at a house, etc. This is why we bring the project application to the public; we want to hear from you. If you know of a firm that is due for attention, pass the application along (or let us know and we can pass the application along). We hope to repeat the diversity of homes from last year and, with your assistance, we can continue to build up Dallas’ residential architecture.
