A Message from the President: Chapter Update
It seems like just yesterday that I was receiving the presidential cowboy hat and now we’re already three months into 2016! We began the year by welcoming the AIA Northeast Texas Chapter as a section of AIA Dallas. This expansion to the east will bring opportunities for new collaborations as well as development of shared programs.
We’re also preparing for CELEBRATE ARCHITECTURE, our annual awards reception! It is a great way to kick-off the year, in advance of Architecture360! Join us on March 23, to recognize the 2015 honorees for their work and efforts in making our community a better place. We’re also looking forward to showcasing the value of working with an architect through our annual Tour of Homes. The call for entries is now out and due next week, March 14.
One of the most frequent questions I get asked is, “What are your goals for 2016?” As 2016 president of AIA Dallas, I am fortunate to lead the organization at a time of great interest and renewed energy in everything Dallas. AIA Dallas is at the center of many conversations where our expertise is not only making a difference, but is sought for significant current issues related to historic preservation, urban design, resiliency, and mobility. We have been both conveners and leaders in these multiple issues. Therefore, my goal is to stay committed to AIA Dallas’ mission to “empower architects to excel and impact their practice, profession, and community.”
AIA Dallas wants to continue to position architects as community leaders; continue to engage emerging professionals in all aspects of the organization to develop their professional and leadership skills; and, more importantly, to provide YOU with a voice and place to advance, communicate, advocate, and lead!
I want to hear from you—get involved, share your expertise, participate, and give us your feedback. AIA Dallas is only successful through you!
