AIA Associates and YAF join forces to form Young Professionals Committee!
YP will aim to direct young professionals to give back to the community through design...
Last year started fast and furious for the Young Architects’ Forum and the Associates chapters at AIA Dallas. We had four successful Architecture on Tap events, a well-attended ARE lecture series and Success Teams. We were able to volunteer in our community with opportunities such as Bark n’ Build, and gather together for joint committee meetings and powerful fire-side chat discussions.
Following our May 26th Kick off happy hour we have launched the Young Professionals Committee. This committee will be the merging of YAF and the Associates. Our happy hour was a time of brainstorming and networking.
YP will aim to direct young professionals to give back to the community through design. We will partner with local initiatives and existing city organizations to plug ourselves into the community and assist with design and volunteering. Some of the programs already underway include Grow South, Texas Trees Foundation, Neighborhood Plus and the Medical District ReDesign committee.
Young Professionals we will continue to support unlicensed architects with the ARE study groups, Success teams and ARE lecture series. The summer Architecture on Tap panel series will begin on June 23rd at Checkered Past Winery with beer, wine and an engaging panel about the future of the Cedars Neighborhood.
Now is the part where you come in! We are rallying support from you, other AIA Dallas committees and our current members to join us in being a part of this new network of young architects and designers. There are several volunteer and leadership opportunities to be filled and we welcome your creative energy and ideas!
