Talk About It

About 7 months ago: Brian H.

Looking forward to this year’s lineup of Industry Thought Leaders and Technology Experts providing insight into the future of IoT, Big Data, AI, Cloud Connectivity, Building Automation & Management, AV, Communications, Mobile Interaction, and Security!

Smart buildings leverage technology to meet owners’ environmental and financial objectives.  Integrated building systems optimize interconnected systems for building management and operations: building automation systems, building management systems, HVAC, life safety, security, AV and lighting.  A wide variety of firms will be discussing their research, development, collaboration, and implementation of these integrated building technologies in a series of short lectures and product introductions.

12:30p – 2:30p            Presentations and Demonstrations

Digital Transformation in AEC, presented by Fortium Partners
What technologies will affect organizations that are designing and building our future structures?  This presentation will outline how virtual/augmented reality, internet of things, big data, and artificial intelligence may affect how work is done and buildings are built.

Demonstration by Tyler Hall, Sage Glass

Internet of Things by Kathleen Bunyer of Acuity
This presentation defines the “IoT” and how its integration will provide enhanced features for both new construction and renovations.

Demonstration by Rita Hicks, Graphisoft North America

Connected Buildings:  Putting Your Building to Work for a Better Building and Business Results by Duncan Bennett, Honeywell Building Solutions
Today’s building owners and managers are faced with balancing decreasing budgets against escalating targets to increase revenue, reduce costs and maintain safe, secure, energy-efficient environments.  The world is also becoming increasingly connected via the ‘cloud’ and through the explosion of remotely accessible devices.  The challenge is to capture data from this rapidly expanding universe of endpoints and utilize the ‘Big Data’ to effectively manage connected buildings.

Demonstration by Ron Perkins, Jobsite Tech Group

3:00p – 5:00p              Presentations and Demonstrations

Construction Management Technologies by Chandler Brooks, Procore
The latest technologies that fit most aptly on a construction jobsite, including how technology becomes an effective method of communication, yet is still just a tool which requires adherence to process to ensure technology is used most effectively.

Demonstration by Chandler Brooks, Procore

AV Technology Impacting Architectural Design by Marc Harrison, Crestron
Emerging AV technology trends are impacting building design.  This presentation will address wireless presentation capabilities (or Bring Your Own Device), digital connections, collaborative spaces, 4K applications, and content streaming.

Demonstration by Russell McCaskil, Sonetics Corporation

Designing & Building Smarter Buildings by Intelligent Building Technology
This presentation will look at in-building communications for emergency response, public safety thru-building communications, public carrier cell phone, text communication, and future-proofing buildings with compatible broadcasting frequencies.

Demonstration by Michael Bottoms, Duro-Last Roofing
