LECTURER: Donna Kacmar, FAIA
Donna Kacmar currently teaches architecture design studio at the University of Houston and is the Director of the Materials Research Collaborative. For eleven years, she ran her own practice, architect works, inc., dedicated to developing well-designed solutions for residential and small-scale commercial projects that are straightforward, cost effective and environmentally responsible. Her built work has received several design awards and has been nationally published. Recently completed projects include the Oak Forest Neighborhood Library (with Natalye Appel + Associates Architects and James Ray Architects) and Fisher Street House, a small 544 square foot residence. She has written a book, BIG Little House. Donna Kacmar is the founder and director of the Materials Research Collaborative currently engaged in research of innovative and sustainable materials. She now serves on the AIA Strategic Council as a representative for Texas.
