This one hour, intermediate level presentation will cover the remaining changes that have occurred between the 2018 IBC and the newly published 2021 IBC, not covered in the February 2nd review of major fire and life safety provisions. Modifications, clarifications and additions to code language has occurred in a majority of the chapters, and impacting almost all occupancies & uses of buildings. The presentation will focus primarily on Chapters 2, 4, 5, 7, 10 (Accessibility Provisions), 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 29, 30, 31 and 33. Several major code changes have occurred in which the code provision is now more stringent than in previous editions of the code, while a few provisions have been modified to be less stringent.

Topics covered will include:

  • The major IBC revisions related to I-2 occupancies such as corridor doors, suites, and automatic closing doors.
  • The new intermodal shipping container provisions added to the IBC, the reasons why this new section was added, critical aspects of these provisions and how to apply them to new projects.
  • The major revisions to plumbing facility provisions as it relates to gender and equality as well as a new section on restrooms in flood hazard areas.
  • The major revisions to the MCM cladding provisions, why it was modified, and how it will impact projects going forward.
