SEMINAR Summary:

Section 1704 and 1705 of the 2015 International Building Code cover Special Inspections and Tests that are to be provided for elements and nonstructural components of buildings and structures.  This seminar will discuss the responsibilities of the Architect, Contractor, Owner and Special Inspector in regard to Special Inspections.  The seminar will also relate information from the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) and the forms and definitions that they have adopted and made available to the participating cities in North Central Texas.

Learning Objectives:

  • You will learn the basic requirements for special inspections.
  • You will learn the responsibilities of the different participants in the construction process in regard to special inspections.
  • You will learn how to fill out the required forms and letters for special inspections.
  • You will learn about the different types of special inspections required by Section 1705.

PRESENTER:  Bruce Rachel, AIA, NCARB, Hensley, Lamkin, Rachel, Inc.

Bruce Rachel has over 30 years of experience in the fields of architecture and construction administration.  He has especially distinguished himself in the areas of building envelope construction and urban mixed-use building code issues.  His project experience also includes a wide range of residential and commercial project types.  Bruce leads the firm’s practice in the areas of production, quality control, and construction administration.  He currently serves as the Director of Networks on the AIA Dallas Board, and serves on the North Central Texas Council of Governments Regional Codes Coordinating Committee and the Building and Residential Advisory Board.
