Understanding the Pitfalls of "Teaming" with other A/E Firms on Projects

This presentation will address some of the benefits and pitfalls of establishing business relationships between different design firms. We will briefly look at some issues that need to be thought out and reduced to writing when two firms who are normally competitors join together to share their experience on a single project or group of projects. Issues such as predetermined scope of work, division of profits and one party incurring debt that the other might be responsible for are a few of the issues that we will be discussing. While this will not be a course on the legal and tax requirements of partnerships and joint ventures, it will be addressing some of the details that will need to be thought out and discussed prior to the formalization of any such agreement.
