AIA | TEXO Technology Roundtable: Squash the Learning Curve: Dive into Rhino 3D with Pumpkin Carving

From a young age, I was drawn to understanding how things work, often disassembling and reassembling anything I could get my hands on. That early passion for problem-solving led me to a career in technology.

In 2008, I joined the United States Army amidst the subprime mortgage crisis. After almost four years of active duty, including a tour in Afghanistan, I transitioned to the Army Reserve in Texas. I was fortunate to obtain an entry-level Help Desk Support role at an ENR Top 200 General Contractor, where I quickly realized the technological challenges facing the construction industry. Over nearly five years, I helped grow a small two man operation into a robust IT department, setting the stage for my next venture.

Joe McAuliff is a Tulsa, OK native, and a graduate of The University of Oklahoma’s construction science program. He began his career in construction practicing both traditional and modern surveying techniques. Transitioning to a tech-focused role, he quickly pushed the envelope for as-built standards and the possibilities of collaboration with BIM. He’s led many design-assist discussions regarding drone image captures, laser scanning and VDC efforts. He’s served on several technology panels regarding BIM / VDC in the AEC industry. He is also the current AIA | TEXO Technology Chair for the DFW chapter where he’s hosted several course accredited panel discussions.

In March 2022, Joe joined The Beck Group as a VDC Manager in their Dallas office. The BECK Group’s integrated Design-Build workflow excites him as he plans to continue to cut out waste in both the design and construction phases of the building process. He currently oversees his DFW duties remotely from his home office in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he currently resides with his wife and daughter. Passionate about facilitating remote collaboration, he excels in managing out-of-state projects and teams, leveraging technology to ensure seamless coordination from any location.

Tania Madah is the visionary founder and manager of Lean Architect, where she spearheads innovative solutions at the intersection of architecture and efficiency. With a robust background in coding, architectural design and project management, Tania has established herself as a leader in promoting lean methodologies within the architectural industry through technology and AI.

With years of experience, Tania’s expertise lies in streamlining architectural processes, enhancing project workflows, and driving sustainable design practices. Her approach combines cutting-edge technology and AI with traditional design principles, ensuring that projects are not only aesthetically compelling but also optimized for cost, time, and resource efficiency.

Tommy Neault, a native of Maine, embarked on a journey to Dallas in 2003, where he established himself as a versatile professional. Graduating from Liberty University, he not only showcased his academic prowess but also excelled on the Golf and Club Hockey teams, demonstrating his commitment to both athleticism and teamwork.

In 2009, Tommy ventured into the realm of enterprise IT solutions, igniting a passion for leveraging technology to drive business growth and efficiency. Notably, he spearheaded initiatives for landmark projects like the New Parkland Hospital, collaborating with industry leaders such as HDR and Corgan.

Today, Tommy Neault serves as a prominent figure in the tech landscape, contributing his expertise as a member of the AIA|TEXO Technology Roundtable Subcommittee. As the driving force behind Business Development at Rudick Innovation & Technology, he leads efforts to empower businesses in the building trades, leveraging IT solutions to foster growth, scalability, and security.
