“Queer Visibility Through Storytelling” is a panel discussion featuring three Texas-based contributors to “Out in Architecture”, a collection of 24 essays by queer architects and designers. Panelists will talk about the catalyst behind “Out in Architecture”, their own experiences in the profession, and how firm owners can support their queer employees. The panel will include an open Q&A.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will understand the importance of storytelling within architecture.
  • Participants will understand why queer professionals may choose to be visible with their identities and why queer visibility is important for the architecture profession.
  • Participants will understand the role of allies to the queer community in accomplishing visibility and creating safe spaces.
  • Participants will discuss ways to better understand, represent, celebrate, and support all members of the design community.
