2021 International Existing Building Code with City of Dallas Amendments

This course will provide an overview of the 2021 International Existing Building Code (IEBC) along with the additional amendments to the code for the City of Dallas.

Learning Objectives:

  • The participant will be able to identify the application of the prescriptive compliance method to provide for code compliance on an existing building, thus providing for the public welfare.
  • The participant will be able to identify the application of the work area compliance method to provide for code compliance on an existing building, thus providing for the public welfare.
  • The participant will be able to identify the application of the performance compliance method to provide for code compliance on an existing building, thus providing for the public welfare.
  • The participant will be able to identify the application of the City of Dallas amendments to each of the compliance methods to provide for code compliance on an existing building within the City of Dallas, thus providing for the public welfare.

Our Speaker

Eirene Knott has over 30 years of experience in the code industry. Eirene has served many of those years in the public sector as a permit technician, inspector, plans examiner and building official. She is a Senior Associate with BRR Architecture, where she currently serves as the Director of Code Services. Along with her Masters of Science in Management from Baker University and Bachelors in Construction Science Management from Kansas State University, Eirene holds over thirty International Code Council (ICC) Certifications, including certification as a Master Code Professional, Certified Building Official and Certified Fire Marshal. Eirene is also a certified Fire Service Instructor and has taught at the National Fire Academy. Eirene currently serves on the ICC Building Code Action Committee, where she serves as vice-chair of the committee and chair of the International Existing Building Code (IEBC) work group. She also is the current chair of the ICC Exam Development Committee for Certified Building Official/Certified Fire Marshal. Eirene has served as President for two local ICC Chapters as well as one national ICC Chapter.
