2025 ENLACES Exhibition


ENLACES is an annual juried exhibition that takes place during the Hispanic Heritage month. Celebrating the works of Latino architects and designers, its purpose is to bring awareness and to recognize our Latino practitioners for their innovative designs that continue to shape our community.

EXHIBITION JURY
The jury members will determine which projects/submissions should be included the exhibition. The panel will be comprised of AIA Dallas Leadership, AIA Dallas LiA Co-Chairs, and external jurors.

IMPORTANT DATES

  • June 1 to July 14: Applicant Registration
  • July 31: Printed boards that meet all of the exhibition board guidelines must be delivered to the AD EX by 5:00 PM on Thursday, July 31.
  • First week of August: Jury review
  • August 19 – September 13: ENLACES Exhibition on Display
  • August 21: Enlaces Announcement & Gallery Talk at ADEX

ABOUT THE AIA DALLAS LATINOS IN ARCHITECTURE NETWORK
Founded in 2010, the AIA Dallas Latinos in Architecture Network seeks to serve and support local communities by establishing a forum to celebrate Latinos in design-related professions.
They work to be a positive influence for Latino students aspiring to become architects by volunteering and being involved in community issues, providing guidance and expertise to students, and participating in mentoring programs.

SUBMISSION CRITERIA

  1. Eligibility
    • Any Latino professional in architecture or other design-related profession
    • Any Latino student currently enrolled (or within one year of graduation) in an architecture program or other design-related programs
  2. Pay Registration Fee (non-refundable)
    • $25 per entry for Students
    • $50 per entry for AIA Dallas and Northeast Texas Members
    • $75 per entry for Non-Members
  3. Complete Registration
    • Upload the complete draft of your exhibition board, along with a personal biography and high-resolution headshot.
    • A confirmation email will be sent to you upon receipt of submission

EXHIBITION BOARD GUIDELINES
The submission for this exhibit will consist of one board of 24” wide by 42” tall. The page composition and content, as well as the number of projects included, are at the exhibitor’s discretion. We encourage exhibitors to include images on the board that showcase their role and contribution to the project.

Narratives of the projects are also encouraged. The only restrictions to be observed are the following:

  • Board must be oriented vertically (aka portrait orientation). Exhibition boards must be mounted on a ½” thick black foam board.
  • The design must include one rectangular white area of 5” wide by 2” tall at the bottom right corner of the board. (Download jpg or png files here)
  • Three lines of black text will be included there, identifying the architect’s name (1) UPPER CASE, (2) place of birth, and (3) company. The font to be used will be ARIAL. Please see example below.

Late entries will not be accepted.

  • July 14: registration & payment must be successfully completed
  • July 31: printed exhibition board following the above guidelines, must be delivered to AD EX before 5:00 PM

BIOGRAPHY & HEADSHOT

A biography of up to 250 words and a high-resolution headshot will be required as a part of the registration form.     

Example bio:

Enrique Greenwell was born in Leon, Mexico. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from the Universidad de Guanajuato School of Architecture (1990-1995). In 2004 he joined HKS INC. Since then he has worked on Healthcare designs that include ABC’s Women’s, Cancer and Neurological Centers, in Mexico City, and the King Hussein Cancer Center, in Amman, Jordan among others.

He is currently working on the National Rehabilitation Centre, Abu Dhabi. His professional experience has not only been defined by Healthcare projects, he is currently lead designer on DFW’s Terminal E Remodeling Program and a LEED Platinum 26-story Corporate Tower in Bangalore, India. He has been guest critic at UTA’s School of Architecture; in 2007 he won the HKS Outstanding Designer Award and has lectured at the Iberoamericana University in Mexico.

He is currently Vice President and Senior Designer for HKS’s Healthcare, Aviation and Commercial Sectors; he is a registered Architect in Mexico, International Associate AIA and LEED AP
