AIA Dallas and the Architecture and Design Foundation are excited to share the news that April 12 – 18, 2026, has been declared Architecture Week in Dallas, Texas!
Architecture Week is a national initiative to celebrate the profession of architecture and invite everyone — especially K-12 students — to explore architecture and design. We all play key roles in educating and inspiring the next generation of architects.

WHEREAS, Architecture shapes the places where people live, learn, work, and gather, and plays a vital role in the cultural, social, and economic life of the City of Dallas; and
WHEREAS, Thoughtful and well-designed architecture contributes to healthy, safe, sustainable, and resilient communities, enhancing quality of life for residents and visitors alike; and
WHEREAS, Architecture fosters innovation and creativity while addressing complex challenges in urban development, infrastructure, and environmental stewardship; and
WHEREAS, Architecture education cultivates critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills, while introducing K-12 students to career pathways in architecture, design, and the built environment; and
WHEREAS, The American Institute of Architecture (AIA), founded on April 15, 1857, represents nearly 100,000 members nationwide who are dedicated to advancing quality of life and protecting public health, safety, and welfare through excellence in design; and
WHEREAS, AIA Dallas actively promotes architecture and design education throughout the community, including programs such as K-12 architecture camps that provide hands-on learning experiences and inspire the next generation of designers and innovators; and
WHEREAS, The City of Dallas recognizes the importance of architecture and design in shaping a forward-thinking city, and celebrates the professionals and educators who contribute to the built environment.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ERIC L. JOHNSON, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DALLAS, do hereby proclaim April 12-18, 2026, as ARCHITECTURE WEEK in Dallas, Texas.
