Dallas Architects Honored at First Annual AIA Dallas Residential Design Awards


Fourteen residences receive design awards from AIA Dallas for their distinguished designs in North Texas.

On the evening of Thursday, May 14, 2026, architects and architecture enthusiasts gathered at the AIA Dallas office for the reveal of the winning entries of the first annual AIA Dallas Residential Design Awards, presented by HomeIQ Solutions. The event was emceed by a special guest, Mike Chapman, presenter, commentator, and executive producer of the America ByDESIGN™ series, who moderated a Q&A with the jurors before revealing the winning entries.

The 2026 AIA Dallas Residential Design Awards, chaired by Laura Juarez Baggett, AIA and Thad Reeves, AIA, is a new awards program that celebrates exceptional residential architecture in North Texas, by AIA Dallas member architects. The event honors the architects behind each design, while also highlighting the collaborative process behind innovative, thoughtful, and beautifully crafted homes across a wide range of residential project types.

The winning residences are:

Merit Award – buchanan architecture, Rio Vista
Merit Award – Ghost Architects, Five House
Merit Award – Corey Reinaker Architect, Resourceful Retreat
Merit Award – FAR + DANG, Vanderbilt Avenue Residence
Merit Award – buildingcommunityWORKSHOP, +One: An Experiment in Housing Affordability
Merit Award – Ghost Architects, Vertex House
Jury Citation – FAR + DANG, Butterfly Duplex
Jury Citation – Bentley Tibbs Architect, Winsted
Jury Citation – Bentley Tibbs Architect, Langdale House
Jury Citation – A. Michael Architecture, Cross Pines
Jury Citation – JRAF Studio, Mi Casa Es Su Casa

Jurors for this award program were members of Custom Residential Architects Network (CRAN) chapters from around the country: Mark Asher, AIA, NCARB, founder of AS+P, Warren Lloyd, AIA, LEED AP, professor at Utah School of Architecture, Robby Johnston, FAIA, co-owner of Raleigh Architecture Co., and Thomas L. Shafer, AIA, principal in design at Thomas Shafer Architects.
