In Remembrance: Dale E. Selzer, FAIA


Dale E. Selzer, FAIA, was a respected Dallas architect, best known as the president and founding principal of Selzer Associates, an architecture and interior design firm established in 1964. He built a reputation for quality design and committed client service throughout his more than five decades in practice, with his firm receiving thirty-eight national, state, and local design awards over the years. Selzer was inducted as a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects in 1983, recognizing his design excellence and service to the profession.

He earned his degree in Architectural Engineering from Ohio University and led a practice whose portfolio spanned retail, commercial, institutional, religious, and industrial projects both nationally and internationally. Selzer Associates was well-known for its collaborative and client-focused approach, evaluating alternatives and prioritizing energy conservation and community impact on projects. Dale Selzer was admired for his leadership, his contributions to Texas architecture, and his enduring impact on the Dallas architectural community. His passing last week marks the loss of a Dallas architectural leader whose work helped shape the region’s built environment and professional standards.
